This arm is great, and articulates wonderfully. The mount plate itself is a bit dated--but works, especially if your laptop is particularly thick. Unfortunately that isn't the trend anymore these days, and for my purposes (floating a 2015 Macbook Pro) the mounting plate just wasn't snug enough to gain my confidence. Other versions of this arm have a VESA mount, and there are VESA compatible laptop trays, which can then attach in a similar fashion as this one (just without the proprietary quick-release mechanism that this specific arm/plate combo provides). With a VESA arm from the same manufacturer, I was able to convert this laptop mount to work by drilling a few holes at the regular VESA spacing. That laptop mount in particular is sized wonderfully for the 2015 Macbook Pro, and the combo has functioned perfectly ever since!
