I read in one of the reviews here on Amazon that the spots that are painted on this backpack look like mold. Well, they don't. While you should know that there is no gold or shimmering paint or application on this backpack, the overall look of it is esthetically very pleasing. In fact, I think that any kind of shimmering application on this backpack would cheapen the look and possibly wouldn't be appreciated by girls who are trying to look cool and not too cutesy). I got it for a 6th grade child, and she loves it, and I think it looks really pretty on her. It also seems to be made well. The fabric that it was made from is thick and strong. It has enough pockets inside. I really think it was a great purchase. My daughter says she thinks it is her favorite backpack so far (and every year I try to get her a really cool backpack so this one really fit the bill).
