I'm a pedestrian commuter and I bring my 15" MacBook Pro home pretty much every day. A standard-size day-hike backpack I used for >10 years finally wore out and this bag is its replacement. By the end of the backpack's lifespan, I had decided that it was unnecessarily bulky. I also wanted to explore the option of the more professional-looking brief case or messenger bag configuration. This EleSac bag is nearly perfect - just the right amount of space for laptop and accessories. I've been finding the messenger bag configuration surprisingly more stable and comfortable than the old backpack.The reason I'm knocking off a star is because the first bag they sent me was defective - the nylon tie-down for the shoulder strap frayed and broke during the first 10 minutes of use. EleSac handled the return smoothly, but it was a pain in the neck to have to get in the car to go to the UPS store to drop off the return shipment. The replacement bag is holding up fine after a couple weeks of use. EleSac just needs to work on quality control. The first bag was gray, the replacement bag was blue - it may not make a difference but if you're like me and you don't care much about the color the blue might be a safer bet.One minor design complaint is that the velcro flap that secures the laptop inside the main compartment is too wide. It's a little awkward to have to taco-stuff the edge of the wide flap way down into the depths of the main compartment. Other than that, it's a major improvement over the old backpack.
